WTC-Chambers St Elevator Not in Service due to
Long-Term Construction


Beginning Friday, April 11, 2008

Due to ongoing construction at the World Trade Center site, the elevator will not be in service. If you rely on the elevator service at this location, the following information is provided to help you plan alternate travel. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience you may experience.  Service on the will continue to operate normally with the exception of late night and weekend planned service changes; please consult service change posters in stations or service advisories at www.mta.info

West 4 St Station and 14 St/8Av stations are the closest ADA accessible stations along the line to the World Trade Center-Chambers St station. Below are travel directions between the WTC area and either the West 4 Station or the 14 St Station, depending on the direction you are traveling. Special directions for customers who may be traveling between 1 AM and 6 AM follow.

West 4 St on the lines
Uptown: From WTC site to West 4 St Station
Board the uptown M6* bus on Church St at Vesey St
(located one block east of the current eleva or site)
Get off on 6 Av at West 3 St.

14 St/8 Av on the lines
Downtown: From 14 St/8 Av to WTC area
Board the downtown M20* bus on 7 Av at 14 St.
(located one block east of the current elevator site)
Get off on Chambers St at Hudson St

*Special directions for customers traveling between 1 AM and 6 AM

The M6 and M20 bus routes do not operate from 1 AM to 6 AM.

If you require wheelchair accessible service between 1 AM and 6 AM, please call New York City Transit's Bus Command Center at: (718) 927-7862. During these hours, PATH Customer Assistance phones, located at the PATH mezzanine level, and street level can be used to make this call.

Service will be provided between the World Trade Center-Chambers St area and the 14 St/8 Av station as follows:

Uptown: From WTC area to 14 St/8 Av
Pick up location from WTC Station area is on Church Street at Vesey Street.
Drop off location at 14 St Station is on 14 Street at 8 Av (elevator is located at end of bus stop).

Downtown: From 14 St/8 Av to WTC area
Pick up location at 14 St Station is on 14 Street at 8 Av (westbound).
Drop off location at WTC Station area is Vesey St at Church St.

 Other ADA accessible stations that you may consider when planning your trip:
• Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall on the lines
• Bowling Green on the lines
• Atlantic Av on the lines and the Long Island Rail Road

Customers traveling on the from Queens:
Consider transferring from the to the at 51 St
(Lexington Av) and continuing your trip downtown with the
following options:
• Continue on the to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, or
• Transfer at 42 St-Grand Central from the to the or and continue to Bowling Green

Long Island Rail Road Customers:
If you normally take the LIRR to Penn Station and transfer to the downtown , consider this alternative:
Take the LIRR to Flatbush Av-Atlantic Av in Brooklyn, then take a or train to the Bowling Green or Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station.
